Rocka Rolla
About This Spot
Step through the doors of Rocka Rolla, and you’re immediately wrapped in the kind of unpolished warmth that only a true Brooklyn bar can offer. It’s a place where the hum of conversation and the scratchy magnetism of a well-loved jukebox set the tone—inviting you to settle in at your own rhythm. The lighting is low, deliberate, casting long shadows that hint at stories shared over decades, while the steady pulse of rock and roll sort of lingers like an old friend, neither overwhelming nor absent.
There’s a casual, no-frills energy here that feels both familiar and a little raw, making it easy to forget the changing neighborhood just beyond its walls. Whether you find yourself nursed by a well-made Irish Coffee or drawn to something unexpected like a Bourbon Slush or a cold Brooklyn Lager, the drinks feel like part of the evening’s unfolding story rather than a menu checklist. And if hunger strikes, simple things like tacos or a hearty slice of pie with chips fit perfectly into the laid-back flow of the night—unpretentious and satisfying in all the right ways.
The layout invites a gentle ebb and flow: bustling at times with a lively, youthful crowd, yet there’s also a corner of calm—the shuffleboard table and outdoor seating out back provide pockets of space to connect or just watch the world go by. This is a spot where you might come for a quick drink and find yourself lingering, drawn by the realness of the vibe and the thoughtful rhythms of its people.
In an area that’s shifting and sorting itself into something new, Rocka Rolla stands as a reminder that some places are about more than just drinks or décor—they hold a bit of the neighborhood’s enduring pulse. It’s a classic bar with character, a gathering place for both longtime regulars and those discovering the heartbeat of Brooklyn’s rock and roll spirit for the first time.

This is one of the last down and dirty rock and roll bars in this gentrifying neighborhood. A classic place. Certainly gets crowded but great for a midweek beer. Good selection!

The best staff, jukebox and prices! Killer vibe, where else can I find a cd jukebox with 90% of things I know. I will come back each and every Brooklyn visit.

I got lucky and came in right before it got busy. Service was great! The drinks were delicious and served well. This is a perfect place to hit up after dinner or before dinner. Not many food options but the drink selections were great.

An amazing bar -- I love that you can create your night from here. High energy if you want it to be, but also has a shuffleboard table in the back and a really amazing open area in the back with an ample amount of outdoor seating. The crowd is young to mid twenties with people chatting, drinking, smoking. Will definitely be returning. Oh and of course, most of the drinks come in a pretty nice chalice.

I was very impressed with this bar. My first impression was the friendly bouncer at the door greeting me with a smile. Next, the drinks were super competitively priced for NYC. Not only that but their atmosphere is amazing, love the antiques & old signs all over the place, great music choices as well. 10/10 Brooklyn experience. Outdoor seating was a bonus and there are two backrooms to chill in as well.
